The striking detached period farmhouse is beautifully nestled into the hillside above the small hamlet of Muddiford just a few miles from Barnstaple and the spectacular North Devon coastline.
Located on a quiet country lane, the south facing farmhouse enjoys wonderful views across the valley and its private colourful garden. The façade of the farmhouse is very distinctive with its stunning arched windows complete with ornate original security bars, and there are further charming period features inside too, including flagstone floors, stripped pine doors, fireplaces and a gorgeous Georgian staircase.
Higher Muddiford Farm is open from Easter through to October and is both dog and child friendly, making it a great place for large or multiple families to enjoy a memorable holiday together.
The farmhouse has five bedrooms, including two doubles, two bunk bed rooms and a flexible double/twin bedroom. Downstairs there is bright and spacious living accommodation to suit all ages. The elegant living room with an open fire is a wonderful place to unwind in the evening with a glass of wine, whilst the well equipped kitchen/diner and pantry are ideal for food preparation and enjoying meals. There is even a fun snug lounge with Nintendo Wii, where children or adults can play games or take advantage of the WiFi.
To the front and rear of the farmhouse are lovely gardens, which are mainly laid to lawn. Ideal for children and dogs, the gardens are the perfect place to sit back and relax on a summer afternoon or enjoy a BBQ with friends and family.
Muddiford is a quaint country hamlet surrounded by beautiful valleys and pretty woods. There are plenty of wonderful walks to discover, as well as easy access to a range of attractions in North Devon. The hamlet itself is small but has a lovely community feel, which is best embraced in the Muddiford Inn, a stylish pub serving a good range of food and drinks for all the family.
Within a few miles of the farmhouse are two splendid gardens, Marwood Hill Gardens and Broomhill Sculpture Gardens. Both offer superb views, colourful arrays of plants and enjoyable places to eat. Broomhill also has a range of around 300 sculptures that are intertwined with nature throughout its gardens.
Five miles drive from Muddiford is Barnstaple, the largest town in North Devon. Sitting on the estuary of the River Taw, the town has a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The historic Pannier Market is also well worth a visit.
In the opposite direction to Barnstaple are the glorious North Devon beaches. Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton offer unrivalled golden sands and clean blue seas perfect for water sports, sunbathing and picnics on the beach.
